Base building and mobilizing communities to bring the change we need!

We invite you to support the 2023 Washington Tenant Power Assembly, a gathering of tenants across the State of Washington to build skills around developing tenant associations and fighting for housing justice!

Purpose: Our goal is to educate and mobilize tenants to create a more equitable and just society where everyone has access to safe, healthy, and affordable housing. The purpose of base building and passing a legislative initiative about rent stabilization is to address the growing issue of housing insecurity and lack of affordability, particularly for low-income and marginalized communities. By organizing and mobilizing community members to build a grassroots movement, we aim to create a diverse coalition that can advocate for policies that promote stable, affordable housing for all. Rent stabilization legislation, in particular, can help protect tenants from excessively high rent increases and unjust evictions, while also providing landlords with fair and reasonable financial returns.

At the 2023 Washington State Tenant Power Assembly we will be making a call to action, so that we can launch a legislative initiative about rent stabilization. More details on the program, including speakers, workshops, and cultural performances are coming soon! Keep checking back for more information!

Accessibility: We want all tenants to have the opportunity to attend the Tenant Power Assembly, regardless of ability to pay. Registration is free and includes meals and your hotel stay. Space and resources are limited, so we ask that guests share their room. Two guests will be assigned to each unit and will be paired with guests of the same gender.

If you need an interpreter, have a food allergy, or have any other needs relating to your attendance, we want to hear about it! Please include a note in your registration and/or contact info@tenantsunion.org for more information. Spanish and ASL interpreters will be provided for this event. Vegan, halal, gluten-free, and dairy-free options will be provided for each meal.

Donors and sponsors: The Tenants Union of Washington State is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit. Our EIN is 91-0967863. If you can attend on behalf of your foundation or agency, please register for the funders block! If you would like to stay for the entire event, please also register for the Tenant Power Assembly.

A big thank you to our sponsors!
